Sometimes engineers use jargon which is difficult to understand, here is a perfect example of "reverse engineering". A customer of BTB needed to have a batch of exhaust manifolds made for a turbo conversion kit they wanted to produce. Although no drawings existed for the part they provided a sample manifold which although old and cracked, was the right dimensions for what they had in mind. Using BTB's Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) a virtual model was created, and by using Computer Aided Design (CAD) the data was used to fabricate the new manifold, which of course then fitted like a glove.
